Frequently asked questions
What clients ask us most about this service.
How is a company valued?
Mainly by the cash it can generate in the future, discounted for its risk (discounted cash flows). That result is checked against multiples of similar companies and recent transactions to reach a defensible range.
Is book value the value of the company?
Not necessarily. Accounting equity reflects the past; market value depends on the future ability to generate cash and on its risk.
What is a fairness opinion?
An independent opinion that tells a board whether the price or terms of a transaction are reasonable from a financial point of view.
