Corporate debt refinancing and restructuring

In plain wordsIf your debt payments are squeezing your cash, we negotiate with your creditors so payments match what your company can really afford: longer tenors, better rates, grace periods or a new structure.

What we do

  • Diagnosis of all liabilities: tenors, rates, collateral and maturities
  • Cash-flow projection to define how much the company can pay, and when
  • Design of the refinancing or restructuring proposal
  • Negotiation with each bank or creditor on behalf of the company
  • Refinancing with new lenders when it makes sense
  • Support in formal reorganization proceedings (Colombian Law 1116 of 2006)

When you need it

  • Several loans mature at the same time
  • Rates went up and debt service became heavy
  • Tenors are too short for the pace of the business
  • The company breached, or is close to breaching, its covenants

Frequently asked questions

What clients ask us most about this service.

What is the difference between refinancing and restructuring debt?

Refinancing (in Colombia, "reperfilamiento") changes the terms of existing debt by agreement with creditors: tenor, rate, grace periods. Restructuring is broader: it can include refinancing with other lenders, consolidating loans, converting debt into equity, selling assets or, in more complex cases, a formal reorganization under Law 1116 of 2006.

When is the best time to refinance?

Before missing a payment. Negotiating early gives you more options and better terms than doing it once there are defaults.

Do banks agree to renegotiate?

Generally yes, when they receive a proposal backed by clear numbers showing that the new structure is payable. Preparing and negotiating that proposal is exactly our job.
